ALASKA RAILROAD TRANSFER COMMITTEE

While the Alaska Railroad is important to the State of Alaska, the 1982 Alaska Railroad Transfer Act should not be used:

  • to change existing private property rights,

  • to potentially exclude use of public lands, or

  • to increase utility costs.

In declaring the Alaska Railroad Track Easement to be an "exclusive use" easement, the Department of the Interior administered the 1982 transfer in a way that negatively affects Alaskans.
